Cultural Activism

I’m a co-investigator on a series of interwoven cultural activism projects with Arts Active Trust. These are action research projects led by Wales-based creatives aged 21-30, focusing on reimagining the possibilities for our future, alongside our communities, and how we will realise them together. Currently, we are working on the Cardiff Reading Room and Engineer.

The Reading Room brings Pluto Press authors to Cardiff to join topical discussions with local communities. We have been investigating alongside international partners School of Machines (Berlin) and Dark Matter Labs (all over), to develop our process to enable these dialogues.

Through Engineer, we’re exploring our relationship to space, as artists, particularly looking at access, as well as researching alternative options for housing. At the heart of Engineer is the vital intersection between storytelling and social change, we’ve met with people and organisations who have incredible stories. We’re working on exciting ways to share our learning with our peers. We’ll be spending time with Rural Studio (Alabama) in November.
